PARENT EXPECTATIONS

Parents can play many roles in sports: current or former athlete, coach, fan, motivator, role model or critic. A few studies have shown that family members may influence an athlete’s involvement and achievement in sport more than coaches. Parents also are the first and most critical agents for socializing sports.

We respectfully request that you commit to the following in order to best support your athlete:

  • Parents will be supportive and good role models of sportsmanship and teamwork at all times.
  • During gameplay parents will cheer from the opposing sideline and will not coach any player(s).
  • Make every possible effort to help your athlete attend practices and tournaments
  • Provide any feedback to coaches and administrators in a respectful manner
  • Communicate regularly with coaches and administrators about your athlete's goals and progress
  • Provide only positive encouragement when on the sidelines at events
  • Let this process belong to your athlete - allow them to take charge of this journey with your support and guidance
  • Trust that we only have your athlete best interests in mind - her success is our success
  • * Parents will let coaches know at least 7 calendar days in advance if their player has any conflicts with a team event, with particular emphasis on practices and games.
  • Parents are encouraged to get involved and volunteer to help in some way during the season. Volunteer opportunities include keeping score, time, and statistics, videoing games, and participating in fundraising bake sales. Sign-ups will be sent electronically prior to each event.
